The Art of Connection: Building a Career Beyond Music
Let’s start the Interview
Thank you for joining us today, Andreea.
We started the interview by asking, You mentioned that you believe in building—not just a career, but meaningful relationships, experiences, and moments that matter. How has this philosophy shaped your journey?
Andreea Magliano replied, “That’s exactly what defines me. My career isn’t just about music or education – it’s about connection. it’s about the electricity between people, the tension before the crescendo, the unspoken promises hidden in the silence between notes. My career is deeply connected to the people I work with—their stories, our shared history, and the passion we bring together. I’ve been fortunate to build Magliano Global not just with colleagues, but with lifelong friends. Nina Vieru, our extraordinary violinist, and I have known each other for 24 years. Andrei Racu, a brilliant pianist and conductor, has been my dear friend for 26 years.
But beyond the friendships, something even more extraordinary is happening — a new chapter is unfolding right now.
We are about to introduce an artist whose talent and expertise redefines everything we know about the piano. A true virtuoso whose talent is unmatched. A magician of sound, a legend in the making. An extraordinary addition to our artistic family.
The World Times, “Who is he?”
Stay tuned, because we are preparing something truly spectacular. Something exquisite is coming.”
Creating Something That Lasts—The Vision Behind Magliano Global
The Worlds Times: You are the founder and CEO of Magliano Global, a company that specializes in music and language education. What inspired you to create it?
Andreea Magliano replied, “It began with struggle. With Pain. With rejection. My journey began as a small child forced to study piano. I went from one piano teacher to another, each telling my parents the same thing: “She’s not good enough.”
One even suggested a psychological evaluation, convinced something was wrong with me (the child)…
From yelling at me for not studying between classes or slapping and pinching me to stand up straight to even further actions like threatening me with closing the piano lid over my fingers or holding a fork behind me to stand straight while I played, I was told I was too much or not enough – too wild, too stubborn, too hard to control. I’ve experienced it all.
I however… happen to think that when a child is not invested is not the child’s fault. It is usually the teacher’s inability to help them fall in love with the instrument. Or the fact that they were never meant to study one!
But then… I met her. A teacher who didn’t just show me how to play. She taught me how to feel. The teacher who changed everything. She studied with me, showing me how to do what no one else had taught me in 10 years of proffesional piano lessons. Using a method that combined the example of a leader with the warmth of a mother. And suddenly… Everything changed.
All of a sudden I went from the lowest score possible (grade wise) to the highest in just a few months. No one could believe it! But I knew.
It was never me. It was her method. It was her! My new teacher.
It was always there, waiting. I just needed someone to show me.
And I didn’t make it easy for her. I didn’t listen. I was hurt, I was scarred, defensive. I rebelled. But she never gave up on me!
I remember standing outside the grand hall, in the middle of the hallway, my body trembling with nerves, the cold sweat running down my back, my fingers stiff with fear.
I was pressing my ear against the door of the grand hall, waiting for my turn on stage, shivering like a twig because of the nerves. My hands were freezing.
She took my hands, she rubbed them warm, and whispered: “You are brilliant. You are ready. You will shine.”
And that made all the difference. I stepped onto that stage, and for the first time, I didn’t play the piano. I owned it. That meant 90% of my performance on stage… She completely transformed the ugly duckling that everyone was kicking around into a beautiful swan that was hearing only praises and applauses.
And that’s when I knew… The piano isn’t just an instrument. It’s an extension of my body.
And that was when I realized… Those moments shaped my entire philosophy. The teacher is 90% of the result.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve gone from being that struggling student to teaching on three continents – America, Europe, and Asia, sharing my knowledge, my passion, my fire. I’ve collaborated with world-class musicians and diverse students, gaining an invaluable perspective on music education.
But I think that most importantly, I’ve learned that I was never meant to sit still and look pretty, I was never meant to be passive, I was meant to challenge, to build, to leave something behind that matters.
Being passive will never be an option for me. If I have something to say, I say it. If I see something that needs to change, I do something about it.
I lost the will to please those who dislike me, or to smile at those who refuse to smile back. And I wish more children learned this early – before the world tries to break them.
I do not get along with those who do not know how to give a compliment or a word of encouragement. And unfortunately teachers like that exist!
That’s why I built Magliano Global—not just to teach music, but to create a space where people’s voices, ideas, and dreams are heard and nurtured. A safe place for kids and grown ups alike. For students.
And, above all, I think we have to go against inertia. It’s easy to sit in a chair and point out mistakes—or even the good things students do. But being a real mentor? That’s something else entirely. It’s about being a teacher, a psychologist, a friend, a necessity, and an inspiration for your students. It’s about being more. Much more.
I love the weight of a piano key under my fingers. The way it resists just slightly before surrendering to my touch. Music is about control and release—about knowing exactly when to hold back and when to give in completely. Life is the same. Students are the same. It’s up to the teacher if he or she decides to caress the key (methaphor for the student) or if they decide to hit it when it shows resistance. I think being gentle is the key. And that is our philosophy here at Magliano Global.”
Becoming the Protector: The Evolution of Andreea Magliano
The Worlds Times: You talked about Andreea the little girl that used to be. Who is she now? Who did she grow up to be?
Andreea Magliano replied, “I’ve grown into someone who would have protected me as a child. And that is the most powerful move I’ve made personal development wise… My students are safe, the children around me are safe and I am not talking about physical security. I speak of psychological security and I think that is more important than anything else for the development of a child.”
The Worlds Times: What Does Power Mean to You?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Power? Power is knowing exactly when to hold back and when to take everything. It’s restraint and indulgence, dominance and surrender, a game of control played at the highest level. Power is not about raising your voice. It’s about the silence that commands attention. It’s the ability to make someone wait—aching, craving—before finally giving them what they’ve been dying for. Power is knowing you could break someone completely… but choosing to make them stronger instead. And that… that is music. That is what I breathe. That is who I am.”
Beyond Teaching: The Search for True Mentors
The Worlds Times: You are obviously searching for teachers to join Magliano Global. What qualities do you look for in an educator joining your team, and how do you ensure they align with your values? How can an educator catch your eye? What should their CV contain?
Andreea Magliano replied, “I am not searching for teachers or mere educators. I am searching for mentors. There is a big difference between the two.”
The Worlds Times: What is the difference?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Teachers teach. Mentors inspire. Mentors support. Mentors are friends, examples, therapists, teachers, etc…”
The Worlds Times: What gains your respect?
Andreea Magliano replied, “In my colleagues or in life in general?”
The Worlds Times: Both!
Andreea Magliano replied, “When it comes to my colleagues… I don’t care about their CV’s, nor their experience or accomplishments. I care about their students opinion about them. Both past and present. And the relationship they’ve built.
In life… People that can be anything in this world but choose to be kind.”
Inspiring Beyond the Classroom
The Worlds Times: What should a teacher/mentor do to impress you?
Andreea Magliano replied, “To truly impress me, a mentor doesn’t need to tell me how great they are. Instead, they need to show me how great their students can become. They should inspire effortlessly, care deeply, and build relationships that last far beyond the classroom. If their students speak of them with gratitude years later, if their presence makes someone’s life better in meaningful ways—then they have already impressed me more than any CV ever could.”
The Worlds Times: But what about their achievements? That must mean something…
Andreea Magliano replied, “It’s not that I don’t care about achievements—of course, they matter. I wouldn’t bring just anyone into my team. The mentors I work with are truly exceptional. But what impresses me isn’t a polished performance or a long list of competitions. I don’t hire musicians; I welcome mentors. I don’t evaluate someone based on how well they can play; I care about what they can inspire in their students.
I am not impressed by someone posting video after video of themselves playing, week after week, without ever showing their students’ progress. I am not impressed by students who can play a piece flawlessly by ear but have never read a single note. I am not impressed when a student, given the sheet music for a piece they’ve mastered by heart, doesn’t recognize a single note on the page.
I am not impressed by endless competitions, certificates created by teachers themselves, or recitals designed to impress parents while those same parents quietly express frustration that their child has been playing the same song for months—or even years. And I am definitely not impressed when, after years of lessons, a student leaves for another teacher and their parents say, ‘My child can’t read music.’
What does impress me? A child who shows up to lessons with a smile, week after week. A child who misses their mentor, who longs to see them, who begs to have a double lesson just to spend more time with them after an absence. A child who, when asked to stay a little longer, doesn’t complain—or if they do, it’s only because they’re tired, not because they don’t love being there. A student who chooses to be with their mentor, not just because their parent signed them up. Because when a child truly enjoys learning, the parent will always see the results they came for—real progress, achieved through joy, not pressure.”
The Worlds Times: But stage presence matters, doesn’t it?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Yes, it does—but only for those who want it. Some people learn music simply because they love it. At Magliano Global, stage presence is never our priority. It can be, if the student desires it, but our primary focus is on learning the instrument and loving the process. Whether you play in the privacy of your home or in front of an audience of thousands, that choice should always belong to the learner, not to me as a mentor. Because I’m not the one standing on that stage. They are. And who am I to impose that stress on someone? My role is to support, not to crush.”
The True Measure of a Mentor
The Worlds Times: What is the main difference between a student who learns for pleasure and one who is doing it professionally?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Well.. I think that the first one should aim to be a good pianist and the second should aim to be a great one. And I think I’ve mastered the one thing that separaters a good pianist from a great one. The good pianist just plays. The great one makes the piano beg for more. It’s up to my students what is the category in which they want to fit. I am not the one choosing their path. I’m merely their guide.”
The Worlds Times: How would you describe the word “mistake”?
Andreea Magliano replied, “(She smiles) Mistake sounds lonely… I like the idea of mistakes. Diamonds. Mistakes are like diamonds. Mistakes are a student’s best friend. I like to look at a mistake as I would a diamond in the rough. They are ugly and rough at the beginning and you find them by stumbling upon them and maybe even hurting yourself in the process. And then you are left with them. And at the beginning they look ugly. Like rocks… Grey and unattractive. But when you look closer at them and you start to polish them and work to clean them more and more, they start to shine and sparkle and they enrich you far beyond any fantasy. It’s what you do with them after stumbling upon them what makes the difference.”
A Deeply Personal Mission
The Worlds Times: You work with so many students, helping them find their voice through music. What drives you to be so dedicated to them?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Because I know what it feels like to be invisible. I know what it’s like to feel unheard, unseen, like your voice doesn’t matter. And that’s exactly why I do what I do.”
The Worlds Times: Have you ever felt like a victim as a child?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Despite everything I went through in my own life, I never called myself a victim. Never! I never let circumstances define me or limit me. Strength isn’t about what happens to you—it’s about what you do with it.”
Strength, Passion, and Balance
The Hidden Maestro: The Legend Behind the World’s Most Exquisite Pianos – Beniamin Diaconu
The Worlds Times: Before we started our interview you mentioned Beniamin. A new addition to the team. Can you please share more about this amazing new addition to Magliano Global? Can you tell us more about Beniamin Diaconu?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Of course! Beniamin isn’t just a piano technician. He is a true wizard of pianos, a master of touch who doesn’t simply tune instruments—he restores their soul, he awakens them. I’ve known him for almost seven years, and in that time, I’ve seen him work miracles. From grand pianos with century-old histories to state-of-the-art modern concert instruments, his expertise transcends the technical.
He specializes in Precision Touch Design (PTD), a revolutionary method that refines and enhances the touch, sensitivity, depth, tone, and responsiveness of a piano, tailoring it to the pianist’s unique style and desires. His work is both an art and a science. And that’s what sets him apart. Beniamin doesn’t just adjust mechanics. He listens. To the piano. To its history. To its secrets. and then… He whispers back. A touch here. A shift there. A delicate, careful adjustment that brings the instrument to life in a way no one else can. But what makes him truly legendary is not just his skill – it’s his dedication. Beniamin is the kind of expert who will fly anywhere in the world, to bring a piano back to life. His hands do more than adjust mechanics; they heal.
It’s rare to meet someone who can truly transform an instrument, unlocking its a potential that even its pianist never knew existed.
And this… this is just the beginning.
Because, as I said earlier… we have more surprises coming.”
The Relentless Pursuit of Impact
The Worlds Times: You are constantly growing and expanding your vision. What drives you to keep pushing forward?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Passion. And maybe a little bit of stubbornness. When I start something, I don’t stop until I know I’ve given my absolute best. But more than that, I believe true fulfillment comes when what you do inspires others. It’s not about titles or achievements—it’s about impact.”
Music, Passion, and True Partnership
The Worlds Times: You talked about passion. Many would say that music and passion are the same thing. What is your opinion on this subject?
Andreea Magliano replied, “I think I talked earlier a bit about this. I like the weight of the keys beneath my fingertips, the slight resistance before they surrender to my touch – it’s a lover’s game, a push and pull, a slow build before release. Music is about control and surrender. About knowing exactly when to hold back… And when to take everything. So yes… I guess you could compare it.
The Worlds Times: We talked about work. What about your private life? If you could describe your ideal relationship, what would it be? How do you balance independence with the idea of partnership?
Andreea Magliano replied, “I believe a real partnership happens when two people are strong on their own, but together, they’re unstoppable. A relationship where both people feel seen, valued, and desired – knowing they can handle anything separately, but choosing to come together. Independence is essential—I love knowing I can take care of myself—but I also love the idea of a relationship where two people can truly rely on each other. Life isn’t meant to be lived alone.”
Desire & Connections
The Worlds Times: What do you admire in a man?
Andreea Magliano replied, “I admire a man who knows how to challenge me. Someone who doesn’t just listen, but makes me pause—makes me rethink, question, anticipate. A man who understands that desire is built in the space between words, in the almost, in the tension before the inevitable release.
A man who knows how to play the game… but never forgets who he’s playing against.
The Worlds Times: Outside of work, what brings you joy?
Andreea Magliano replied, “My family. I have an amazing husband who not only supports me but also helps me with the online side of the business, handling finances, banks, and everything behind the scenes so that I can focus completely on the art, the people, and the music.
And, of course… cooking. There’s something incredibly personal about making a meal for someone—especially if they steal a bite straight from the pan when they think I’m not looking. I love those nights where I can just sit with a glass of wine, have deep conversations, and let time disappear until the candles burn out.
There’s something about the way a room shifts when the right energy enters it. How some people move through life unnoticed, and others… Others make you stop breathing for a second. I like that.
The other things I like… Well. I’ll leave that up to your imagination. (She giggles)”
Final Thoughts
The Worlds Times: Before we wrap up, is there something about you that people might not expect?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Maybe that, despite my strength, I love knowing I can lean on someone just as much as they can lean on me. Or that even though I can handle a lot, I still crave the small things—a lingering and reassuring glance, an unexpected touch, or just knowing that someone has my back. Life should make your pulse quicken. If its not, your not living!”
The Worlds Times: That’s an incredibly honest answer. What’s next for Magliano Global?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Expansion. Growth. Connection.
We are currently scouting for mentors on all three continents—America, Europe, and Asia—seeking those who don’t just teach, but inspire. If you believe in shaping minds, in leaving a mark that outlasts a lesson, in being more than just an instructor—then we should talk.
If you have the fire, the passion, the vision—I want to hear from you. Whether you’re looking to join my team, to collaborate, or simply to connect on a deeper level, my inbox is always open. Let’s see if we are meant to build something extraordinary together.
And for those curious to meet the brilliant mentors already shaping futures with us, reach out. You know where to find me—on my website, across my social platforms, or directly in private. I read every message.
Some opportunities come once in a lifetime. This might just be yours. (She smiles.)”
Lastly we asked, “Any final thoughts?
Andreea Magliano replied, “Just this… Life is short. Be passionate. Let the tension build up before the inevitable release. Build something meaningful. When you can be anything in this world, be kind! And never underestimate the power of a little laughter, a good meal… or the right kind of company. (She smiles)”
