In this exclusive interview, Founder and CEO Architect Vincenzo Russi discusses the company’s proprietary construction system, its vision for energy and water-independent buildings, international expansion, and how Green Living is shaping the future of sustainable architecture through innovation, education, and global collaboration.
Meeting the Global Demand
We started the interview by asking, “What is driving the growing global demand for sustainable construction, and how is Green Living responding to this shift?”
Vincenzo Russi replied, “The construction industry is undergoing a major transformation, where sustainability has become a necessity rather than a trend. Green Living Ltd., headquartered in Italy and the UK, together with its Middle Eastern division, Green Living Architecture FZCO, stands at the forefront of this transition through a pioneering approach and exclusive expertise led by its Founder and CEO, Architect Vincenzo Russi, a certified professional with the Chamber of Commerce in the United Arab Emirates.
Since its establishment in 2010, the company’s mission has been to develop innovative building solutions that combine environmental responsibility, technological innovation, and high-quality architectural design. Today, with more than 1,200 completed projects and 127 constructed buildings—including villas, apartments, schools, police stations, and other facilities across Europe and the United Arab Emirates, Green Living continues to deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of modern cities and environmentally conscious investors.”
Redefining Construction
The Worlds Times: What makes Green Living different from other companies in the sustainable construction industry?
Vincenzo Russi replied, “Our greatest competitive advantage is our proprietary construction system, developed entirely in-house. Moving beyond traditional building methods, the model exclusively created by Architect Vincenzo Russi unique in both Italy and Europe combines the precision and craftsmanship of Italian construction with advanced modular engineering based on repurposed, insulated shipping containers.
This innovative approach enables us to construct highly efficient and sustainable buildings while delivering exceptional quality, remarkable flexibility, and significantly shorter construction times compared to conventional methods.”
Engineering Complete Energy
The Worlds Times: Can you explain your proprietary building system and why it is considered unique?
Vincenzo Russi replied, “Our construction system has been designed to achieve complete energy and water independence while combining the precision of Italian craftsmanship with the highest levels of technological efficiency. Every project is developed from the ground up to integrate advanced thermal insulation, high-performance solar panels, battery storage systems, and atmospheric water generation technology. Unlike conventional modular construction, our buildings are conceived as fully self-sufficient architectural ecosystems capable of operating independently from traditional utility networks.
Architect Vincenzo Russi explains:
“Our construction system is currently the only one on the global market that combines the ultra-high precision of Italian craftsmanship with the technical superiority of insulated container modules. We don’t simply build walls—we design complete independence for our clients.”
While container-based construction is used worldwide, it is rarely combined with an external insulation system. As a result, many container homes become extremely cold during winter and excessively hot during summer, leading to high heating and cooling costs. The same issue exists in many buildings constructed in the UAE. Traditional buildings—including villas, apartments, and skyscrapers—typically rely on exterior walls made of Poroton bricks or concrete blocks covered with plaster. This remains the standard approach adopted by renowned developers such as Emaar, Damac, Sobha, and others. According to Green Living, these systems often result in lower construction quality, significant maintenance after only a few years, lower construction costs (around AED 3,000 per square meter), extremely high energy consumption, and limited long-term efficiency.
Green Living’s proprietary system was developed from the ground up and naturally involves higher construction costs (approximately AED 7,000 per square meter). However, it virtually eliminates ongoing expenses for electricity, water, and cooking gas, creating unmatched long-term value.”
Smart Technologies for Complete Self-Sufficiency
The Worlds Times: How does your technology help buildings become energy and water self-sufficient?
Vincenzo Russi replied, “We integrate renewable energy systems directly into every building through advanced photovoltaic panels—either adhesive panels for vertical surfaces or conventional mounted panels, combined with fully recyclable salt-based battery storage systems that ensure complete electrical autonomy.
Additionally, our atmospheric water generation technology, known as “Eolo,” extracts potable drinking water directly from humidity in the air, producing up to 300 liters daily.
Together, these technologies eliminate dependence on traditional utility infrastructure while significantly reducing environmental impact and operating costs.”
Premium Sustainable Living
The Worlds Times: What benefits do clients gain by choosing Green Living’s construction system?
Vincenzo Russi replied, “Our clients benefit from complete energy independence, water autonomy, significantly lower operating costs, and the virtual elimination of utility bills.
Construction schedules are highly predictable, with most projects completed within five to six months.
Beyond sustainability, our buildings represent long-term real estate investments that combine durability, contemporary design, and exceptional operational efficiency.”
Expanding Italian Innovation
The Worlds Times: How has Green Living expanded internationally over the years?
Vincenzo Russi replied, “Since our foundation, we have successfully completed projects throughout Europe and the United Arab Emirates.
To strengthen our presence in the Middle East, we established Green Living Architecture FZCO in Dubai, enabling us to serve one of the world’s fastest-growing sustainable construction markets while bringing Italian innovation to an international audience.
I would also like to personally thank the authorities including the municipalities, IFZA, and Dubai Silicon Oasis for their exceptional professionalism, competence, and support. The people behind these institutions make them truly outstanding, and I have developed great respect and appreciation for them. Dubai has become our second home.”
A Decade of Sustainable Construction Expertise
The Worlds Times: Your upcoming technical eBook has generated significant interest. What can readers expect?
Vincenzo Russi replied, “The eBook represents more than a decade of practical experience and technical expertise. It provides a comprehensive guide to our construction philosophy and serves both as a technical reference and an educational resource for professionals interested in sustainable architecture and eco-friendly construction.”
A Global Sustainability Initiative
The Worlds Times: Why are you launching an international competition alongside the eBook?
Vincenzo Russi replied, “We believe knowledge should be shared.
The international competition has been created to promote awareness of sustainable architecture and green construction worldwide. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire architects, developers, investors, and young professionals to embrace innovative solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future. Our decade-long experience has been fully documented in an upcoming professional technical eBook. Designed in landscape format and rich in execution details, the publication will provide an in-depth overview of the company’s history, modular construction systems, and the integration of water and energy technologies, serving as a comprehensive manual for the ecological transition in modern architecture. The release of the book will pave the way for one of the most ambitious cultural and promotional initiatives ever organized globally: a major international competition jointly launched by Green Living Architecture FZCO and Green Living Ltd.
Both the publication and the competition aim to democratize knowledge of sustainable architecture through an integrated international marketing campaign spanning Europe, the United Kingdom, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.
Architect Vincenzo Russi explains:
“Global climate and geopolitical challenges require immediate, bold, and practical solutions. Through our buildings, we demonstrate that cutting-edge, zero-impact architecture with no utility bills is no longer a promise for the future—it is an industrialized reality that we are already exporting around the world.
Our upcoming eBook and international competition were created to share this unique knowledge and demonstrate that living in harmony with the planet—without sacrificing luxury or modernity—is already possible and accessible today. Zero-impact architecture is not the future; it is the present we are building.”
The Future Standard for Global Construction
The Worlds Times: How do you see the future of sustainable architecture over the next decade?
Vincenzo Russi replied, “Sustainability will become the foundation of every successful building project.
Future buildings must be energy-efficient, environmentally responsible, technologically advanced, and capable of operating independently from traditional infrastructure whenever possible.
We believe self-sufficient architecture will evolve from being an innovative concept into the new global standard.”
Building a Better Future
Lastly we asked, “What message would you like to share with architects, developers, and investors around the world?”
“The challenges of climate change and resource management require practical solutions today—not tomorrow.
Our work demonstrates that self-sufficient, zero-impact architecture is already achievable without compromising luxury, comfort, or modern design. Innovation and sustainability can work together to create buildings that benefit people, businesses, and the planet. We encourage architects, developers, real estate leaders, the municipalities of Dubai and beyond, chambers of commerce, ministries of foreign affairs, and all industry stakeholders to embrace this transformation and help shape the future of global construction.” Vincenzo Russi concluded
