The instance against them was filed based on a grievance lodged by a 53-year-old previous Army personnel on Wednesday evening at the Trombay police headquarters in suburban Mankhurd, he claimed.

Commissioned in 1961, INS Vikrant, a Majestic-class attack aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy, had played a vital duty in imposing the naval blockade of East Pakistan throughout the Indo-Pakistan Battle of 1971. It was deactivated in 1997. In January 2014, the ship was sold through an on the internet public auction and also junked in November that year.

The plaintiff said that Kirit Somaiya had begun a campaign to increase funds for INS Vikrant. He stated that he had actually offered contributions to Kirit Somaiya for saving the ship and the BJP leader had collected more than 57 crore for the purpose.
