It’s summer, and while you might not be checking the time as often, it’s still useful to have a watch—whether you’re swimming, out in the heat, or just relaxing. A good summer watch not only helps you keep time but also adds style to your outfit, especially when looking good matters just as much as what you’re doing. Here are five great watches to wear this season, whether you’re sailing in Portofino or reading a book on your local beach.

Limited Edition Summer Watches

This special set of three watches is inspired by the bright blue of the Mediterranean Sea and the warm orange of a summer sunset.

  • One is a basic watch with three hands and a center second hand ($16,900).

  • The second has a tourbillon with two hairsprings for better accuracy ($59,500).

  • The third is a skeleton-style tourbillon with a rare cylindrical hairspring ($93,500).

All three are made of steel and come with rubber or leather straps.

This watch has a turquoise blue dial that suits water sports. It’s water-resistant up to 150 meters and has glowing hands and markers to see underwater. The dial fades from light to dark turquoise. It has a high-precision automatic movement and is 41mm in size ($7,000). Omega also released 12 smaller 30mm versions in different materials, priced from $6,600 to $40,100.

To mark 50 years since the movie Jaws, Seiko made a special watch. The dial shows sea colors and, in certain lights, a shark rising from the waves. On the back, there’s an image of the Orca boat and a shark fin. Only 5,000 pieces are made, and it costs $795.

Zenith Defy Extreme Diver Watches

The Diver Revival ($8,200) is based on Zenith’s 1969 dive watch but updated with a modern, sand-blasted titanium look. It has a yellow-tinted sapphire bezel and a crown placed at 4:30 like the original. It’s 37mm wide and water-resistant to 600 meters.

The Diver Shadow ($12,300) is larger at 42.5mm, also in sand-blasted titanium, and can go just as deep. It also includes a helium release valve for deep dives.

Breitling now offers smaller versions of its Superocean Heritage watch—40mm and 36mm—making them more wearable than the older 46mm models. One version (500 pieces, $6,450) was co-designed by surfing legend Kelly Slater. It has a blue dial with a tropical leaf design and comes with a blue rubber strap or a steel mesh bracelet. The full collection includes many colors.
