With an academic background in Agronomy from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca, Mircea Craciun brings together technical knowledge, entrepreneurial thinking, business development, and a strong commitment to creating greener and more sustainable environments. His journey also includes the expansion of Eco Garden Construct from Romania into the UK market, supporting the company’s ambition to build a strong European presence.

We started the interview by asking, “Mircea Craciun, could you tell us about your entrepreneurial journey and what led you to the landscaping industry?”
Mircea Craciun replied, “My entrepreneurial journey has been closely connected to my professional background in agronomy and my belief that green spaces have an important role in improving the quality of life. Over the years, I came to understand that landscaping is much more than planting trees, maintaining lawns, or creating attractive outdoor spaces. It combines design, engineering, environmental responsibility, project management, and long-term maintenance. This perspective shaped my approach to business and eventually became a key part of my leadership journey at Eco Garden Construct. My goal has always been to build a company that delivers high-quality landscaping solutions while contributing to healthier, greener, and more sustainable communities.”

The Worlds Times: What is the story behind Eco Garden Construct, and how has the company evolved under your leadership?
Mircea Craciun replied, “Since I became CEO of Eco Garden Construct in 2011, the company has developed with a clear focus on professional landscaping, sustainable green-space development, and high-quality project delivery. Our evolution has been driven by the belief that successful landscaping requires a different way of thinking, particularly when projects are part of urban regeneration. We have worked continuously to strengthen our people, capabilities, project management processes, and innovative approaches. Today, our ambition extends beyond individual landscaping projects toward building a strong European business capable of delivering solutions across landscaping, sports infrastructure, and sustainable green spaces.”

Mircea Craciun replied, “Sustainable landscaping means creating outdoor environments that deliver long-term value for people, communities, and the environment. Urban green spaces need to be designed and maintained differently from conventional urban infrastructure because they are living systems. They require creativity, innovation, appropriate plant selection, responsible resource management, and continuous maintenance. The Worlds Times: What have been some of the biggest challenges in expanding Eco Garden Construct from Romania into the UK market?
Mircea Craciun replied, “Entering a new European market requires adaptability, patience, and a strong understanding of local expectations. The UK market has its own business culture, operational requirements, customer expectations, and competitive environment. For us, expansion has therefore been about more than simply entering another country. It has required building the right capabilities, understanding the market, maintaining our quality standards, and developing relationships based on trust. Our experience in Romania has given us a strong foundation, while operating internationally encourages us to continuously improve and adapt our approach.”
