The Sniper Elite series started almost 20 years ago in 2005. The series has sold over 30 million copies across different consoles and PC.

The newest game in the series is coming out soon. Here are ten things you should know about Sniper Elite: Resistance.

Sniper Elite: Resistance Release Date

The new game, Sniper Elite: Resistance, will be released on January 30, 2025. Players who pre-order the Deluxe Edition can play the game early, starting on January 28.

Platforms

Sniper Elite: Resistance will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Game Pass Availability

Xbox players have something extra special. Sniper Elite: Resistance will be available on Xbox Game Pass from the very first day it’s released. Normally, new games take months to appear on Game Pass.

Players will now control Harry Hawker, an agent of the Special Operations Executive (SOE). Hawker has been a character in the Sniper Elite series since Sniper Elite 3, which came out in 2014. However, this is the first time he will be the main character in a game.

Setting

The game takes place in France during World War II. The story happens at the same time as Sniper Elite 5, which came out in 2022 and is set in northwest France.

Story

Hawker’s mission is to stop the Nazis from creating a powerful weapon called the “Wunderwaffe.” Players can choose to play alone or with others in the campaign. Here’s the reveal trailer:

Gameplay Mechanics

No other series has explored the details of being a good sniper quite like this one. Like earlier versions, the developers worked hard to offer unique sniping features and stealth elements, all within third-person combat, which fans of the series are used to.

The game won’t push your console’s graphics to the limit, but that’s never been the main appeal of the series. What makes the game special is its gameplay, atmosphere, and emphasis on stealth and sniper accuracy.

Propaganda Missions

Propaganda missions are special side missions in the game. In SER, players complete these missions by finding propaganda posters on different maps. These posters were important during World War II to influence the public’s views.

Pre-Order Bonuses

When you pre-order SER, you get extra rewards, including a bonus mission called Target Führer, a special weapon skin, and the Karabiner 98 Rifle. If you buy the Deluxe Edition, you also get the M1911 Pistol and early access on January 28.
