YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul will face unbeaten boxing champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis in an exhibition fight on 14 November in Atlanta, Georgia. The fight will not be for Davis’ world title because of the massive size and weight difference between the two.
Jake Paul, who weighed 200 pounds in his last fight, is much bigger than Davis, who normally fights at 135 pounds. Paul is also much taller at 6ft 1in, while Davis stands at 5ft 5in and gives up nine inches in reach.
Paul first became famous as a Disney Channel actor and later as a social media influencer before moving into boxing in 2020. Since then, he has built a record of 12 wins and one defeat, beating opponents like YouTuber AnEsonGib, former NBA player Nate Robinson, and ex-UFC fighters Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva. His only loss came against Tommy Fury in 2023.
Most recently, Paul scored wins over veteran boxers. He beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, a former world champion, by unanimous decision. He also fought the legendary Mike Tyson, now 58 years old, and won by decision in November.
Gervonta Davis, on the other hand, is one of boxing’s top pound-for-pound fighters. The American has an unbeaten record of 31 fights, with 30 wins and one draw. Out of those victories, 28 came by knockout, showing his dangerous punching power. Davis last fought in March, where he kept his WBA lightweight title after a draw against Lamont Roach Jr. Earlier this year, he was ranked number eight in the world pound-for-pound rankings.
Despite Davis’ reputation as one of the best fighters in the world, the big weight gap means this exhibition is unlikely to improve the standing of either boxer. Many fans see the matchup as more entertainment than a serious contest, similar to when Logan Paul fought Floyd Mayweather in 2021. Like that fight, this event pairs a much bigger but less skilled boxer against a much smaller, highly skilled champion.
Jake Paul has spoken confidently about the fight, posting on social media: “Yes, he is one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds.” He also teased bigger fights in the future, hinting at talks with British heavyweight Anthony Joshua, a two-time world champion. Promoter Eddie Hearn recently suggested that Paul could face Joshua when the Briton returns from injury in 2026.
For now, the details of the Paul vs Davis exhibition are still being finalized. The contracted weight, the number of rounds, and the glove size have not yet been announced. In Paul’s fight with Tyson, for example, he used larger 14-ounce gloves and fought shorter rounds due to Tyson’s age. Similar special rules may be set for the Davis exhibition.
While the fight will likely draw huge attention, many boxing fans believe the outcome won’t mean much for either man’s legacy. The size difference is too large to make it a fair fight, and critics say both Paul and Davis risk little by stepping into the ring together.
Still, Paul continues to push for respect in boxing, and Davis adds to his star power by taking part in high-profile events. On November 14, fans will see whether the size of Jake Paul or the skill of Gervonta Davis shines brighter.
