Zarine Manchanda Interview

In this exclusive conversation, Zarine Manchanda shares how her journey across philanthropy, entrepreneurship, social activism, and now politics is guided by one unwavering mission: compassionate service. From delivering essential aid during COVID-19 through the Zarine Manchanda Foundation, to pioneering India’s first 7-star café experience, to launching The Zarine Manchanda People’s Party, she explains how leadership must begin with empathy and end with real impact.

This interview offers a closer look at her values, her grassroots experience, and her vision for structural change through policy-driven empowerment.

Zarine Manchanda

Zarine Manchanda is a philanthropist, entrepreneur, social activist, and political leader. She is the founder of the Zarine Manchanda Foundation, widely recognized for its grassroots outreach and humanitarian initiatives across Mumbai, including Dharavi and Aarey Colony. She is also the visionary behind India’s first 7-star café concept, blending luxury with spirituality and community upliftment. Most recently, she launched The Zarine Manchanda People’s Party, aiming to bring dignity-based development and inclusive progress into public governance.

A Unified Mission Across Many Roles

We began the interview by asking, “You’ve worn many hats philanthropist, entrepreneur, social activist, and now political leader. How do you balance these diverse roles, and what unifies them at their core?”

Zarine Manchanda replied, “At the core of all my roles is a deep commitment to serving others with compassion and purpose. My philanthropic work through the Zarine Manchanda Foundation began with reaching the poorest residents of Mumbai, providing essentials and hope, especially during the darkest days of COVID-19.

That same intention fuels my entrepreneurial ventures whether it is creating India’s first 7-star café experience or other businesses. They are designed not just for luxury but to uplift communities and create employment.

Now, entering politics is a continuation of that service. I want to create policies and opportunities that improve lives at a structural level. This unified vision of compassionate leadership drives everything I do.”

Lessons from Grassroots Engagement

The Worlds Times: Your foundation has been credited with extensive grassroots outreach. What lessons have you learned working directly with underserved communities?

Zarine Manchanda replied, “Working at the grassroots has taught me that listening is just as essential as leading. In areas like Aarey Colony and Dharavi, we have administered hundreds of food and clothing donation programs, adapting to the unique needs of each community.

These experiences reinforced that dignity, respect, and consistent engagement matter most. I have learned that meaningful change is not about one-off charity. It is about sustained, trustworthy presence that gives people hope and practical pathways toward better health, education, and stability.”

Redefining Luxury with Purpose

The Worlds Times: You pioneered the concept of a 7-star café experience in India. What inspired you to innovate in the hospitality industry, and how does this vision reflect your personal values?

Zarine Manchanda replied, “My inspiration came from my upbringing. As a child I frequently stayed in elegant hotels and was captivated by their beauty, attention to detail, and ambiance.

When I saw how coffee culture was growing in India, I realized luxury hospitality still lacked soulful, immersive experiences. The Zarine Manchanda Café was envisioned not just as a place to eat but as a space where luxury, spirituality, and human connection meet.

It reflects my belief that beauty, quality, and spiritual charm can elevate everyday life and create memorable moments for patrons.”

From Charity to Policy: A New Chapter in Leadership

The Worlds Times: Your political journey including launching The Zarine Manchanda People’s Party is relatively recent. What do you see as the most pressing issues for your constituents, and how will your leadership address them?

Zarine Manchanda replied, “My constituents often tell me that poverty, lack of access to quality education, limited healthcare facilities, and unequal opportunities continue to impede their progress.

Through my new political platform, I aim to develop policies that enhance public services, promote equitable education, expand healthcare accessibility, and create sustainable employment opportunities.

Drawing from my charity background, I also plan to ensure that social empowerment programs are guided by dignity and inclusivity, because real development must reach every citizen regardless of background.”

Inspired by Icons of Compassion

The Worlds Times: You frequently cite inspirations like Mother Teresa and Princess Diana. How have these figures shaped your philosophy of leadership and service?

Zarine Manchanda replied, “Both Mother Teresa and Princess Diana taught the world that true leadership comes from compassion, humility, and courage. Mother Teresa’s lifelong service to the destitute demonstrated that selfless action can transform lives even under the most difficult circumstances.

Princess Diana showed that empathy, presence, and personal connection can bring hope and dignity to marginalized groups.

I strive to embody these qualities by being accessible, empathetic, and persistent in addressing people’s needs whether through my foundation’s charitable outreach or in public service. Their examples remind me that leadership is not about status but about impact and heart.”
