Kelley Mack, an actress known for her role in the TV show The Walking Dead, has died at the age of 33.

She passed away peacefully on Saturday in her hometown of Cincinnati. She had been fighting a serious illness called glioma, a type of tumor that affects the brain or spinal cord, according to a message on the website CaringBridge.

Her full name was Kelley Klebenow. A post on her Instagram on Tuesday shared the sad news, saying, “It is with great sadness that we announce Kelley’s passing. She was a bright light who is now gone.”

Friends, fans, and co-stars have shared their condolences and memories, calling her a “talented” and “kind” person. Alanna Masterson, who acted with her on The Walking Dead, said, “What an incredible human. So proud to have fought alongside her in our final episode together.”

During her career, Mack had 35 acting credits and five as a producer. She was most famous for playing Addy in Season 9 of The Walking Dead, Penelope Jacobs in Season 8 of Chicago Med, and for a role on FOX’s 9-1-1.

She also appeared in ads for Dr. Pepper, Ross, Dairy Queen, Chick-fil-A, and more. Her love for acting began when she got a video camera as a birthday gift as a child. She started doing commercials at a young age.

“She was known for her kindness, creativity, and the way she supported others,” the statement said. “Her energy and passion inspired many people.”

Kelley Mack graduated from Hinsdale Central High School and earned a degree in cinematography from Chapman University in California.

She is survived by her parents, Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow; her sister Kathryn and brother Parker; her grandparents Lois and Larry Klebenow; and her boyfriend Logan Lanier.

“Kelley will be remembered for her work in film and TV, and most of all, for her kind heart and bright spirit. She will be missed deeply,” the statement said.
