Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the world’s most famous footballers, is now engaged to his long-time partner, Georgina Rodríguez.

Georgina shared the happy news on social media with a photo of a big diamond ring. She wrote in Spanish, “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.” Ronaldo has not yet spoken publicly about the engagement.

The couple first met nine years ago at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Georgina was working. At the time, Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid in Spain. Since then, they have built a family together.

Ronaldo has five children in total. Two of them are with Georgina — a daughter named Bella, born in April 2022, and a baby boy who sadly passed away at birth. Georgina also helps raise Ronaldo’s three other children from previous relationships.

Georgina, 31, is also known for her Netflix reality show I Am Georgina, where she once spoke about people teasing her about when she and Ronaldo would get married. She said her friends would often joke about it and sing Jennifer Lopez’s song “The Ring or When”. She explained that the decision wasn’t hers to make.

The engagement news has attracted attention from many celebrities. Kim Kardashian liked the post, Piers Morgan congratulated them and wished them success in marriage, and celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury called it “fabulous news.” Lauren Sánchez-Bezos, wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, said she was “so happy” for the couple.

The family currently lives in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Ronaldo plays for the football club Al-Nassr, which he joined in December 2022. His reported salary is £177 million ($238 million) per year.

In June 2025, the 40-year-old footballer’s contract was extended until 2027, putting to rest rumors that he might retire soon. On X (formerly Twitter), Ronaldo posted: “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.”

The engagement marks another big moment in Ronaldo’s life, both on and off the field. While fans wait for more details about the wedding, it’s clear that the couple, who have been through highs and lows together, are ready for the next step in their relationship.
