Las Vegas Sands is investing $8 billion in Singapore to grow its business in one of Asia’s top financial and tourism hubs.

On Tuesday, the company began building a new 55-story hotel tower next to its current Marina Bay Sands resort, casino, and convention center. The ceremony was attended by Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Miriam Adelson, the wife of the late casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson.

“Marina Bay Sands is the most successful resort of its kind in the world,” said Robert Goldstein, chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands. “We are proud to continue Mr. Adelson’s vision and build something even more exciting for Singapore’s tourism industry.”

The new tower, designed by the same architects behind the original Marina Bay Sands, will include 570 luxury suites and a large indoor arena with 15,000 seats for concerts and events.

It will also feature a unique Skyloop—an observation deck 245 meters above ground—with amazing views of the city and harbor. The Skyloop will include a wellness terrace for yoga, arts, and special events. The tower is expected to open in 2031.

Marina Bay Sands, which opened in 2010 at a cost of $5.6 billion, has been a big success. In 2024, it made $2.1 billion in profits, which is almost half of Las Vegas Sands’ total earnings.
