We started the interview by asking, “Michael, you’ve led major operational and M&A projects before taking your current leave. What has this transition taught you about leadership and growth?”
Michael Nielsen replied, “Taking a step back after years of high-intensity leadership has offered me a chance to reflect deeply on what truly drives sustainable growth people and purpose. I’ve learned that leadership is not only about setting ambitious targets but about creating environments where individuals feel seen, trusted, and empowered. Growth doesn’t come from pushing harder it comes from aligning teams around a shared purpose and giving them clarity and freedom to perform. This pause has reinforced my belief that great leadership balances strategic precision with genuine empathy and kindness, ensuring progress that’s both measurable and meaningful.”

The Worlds Times: You’ve co-founded TXM, a startup with a focus on high-end real estate. What differentiates TXM from others in the market?
Michael Nielsen replied, “TXM stands apart because we combine exclusivity with innovation. Our goal isn’t just to renovate or build it’s to redefine what “high-end” means by blending timeless architecture with modern intelligence. We use AI across every stage from identifying promising locations and materials to optimizing design and logistics. This ensures every project delivers rare value to both customers and investors. Each apartment tells a story of sophistication, respect for heritage, and forward-thinking design. Despite being a young brand, our two completed projects sold quickly, validating that customers appreciate thoughtful craftsmanship and innovation backed by purpose.”

Michael Nielsen replied, “Management by kindness means leading with heart while maintaining clarity and accountability. It’s about treating people as individuals, not resources understanding their motivations, supporting their growth, and recognizing their contributions. In practice, this looks like transparent communication, active listening, and empowering others to make decisions confidently. I’ve seen that kindness fosters trust, which drives higher engagement, creativity, and loyalty. It doesn’t mean avoiding tough conversations it means having them with respect and empathy. In today’s fast-changing world, kindness is not a soft skill it’s a strategic advantage that builds resilient, high-performing teams.”
AI in Real Estate
The Worlds Times: TXM integrates AI into its operations. How do you see AI shaping the future of real estate and business strategy?
Michael Nielsen replied, “AI will transform real estate far beyond automation—it will enhance decision-making, sustainability, and personalization. At TXM, AI helps us analyze locations, materials, and design trends with unprecedented precision. It allows us to predict customer preferences, optimize energy efficiency, and streamline logistics. Beyond real estate, I see AI as a powerful strategic partner. It enables leaders to focus more on creativity, human connection, and long-term vision, while machines handle complexity and data. However, the human element remains essential AI can assist in making decisions, but values, intuition, and empathy must guide them.”
Purpose-Driven Value
The Worlds Times: You emphasize creating long-term value. How do you balance profitability with sustainability and social responsibility?
Michael Nielsen replied, “For me, profitability and sustainability aren’t opposing goals they’re interdependent. A business built purely on short-term profit lacks resilience. At TXM and other ventures, we integrate sustainability into every decision from material sourcing to community impact. We design projects that respect their surroundings, use resources responsibly, and stand the test of time. This approach strengthens brand trust and long-term profitability. Customers and investors today value integrity they want to see that success doesn’t come at the planet’s or society’s expense. True value is measured not just in financial returns, but in the legacy we create.”
Successful M&A
The Worlds Times: As someone experienced in M&A strategy, what do you think makes an acquisition truly successful?
Michael Nielsen replied, “Successful acquisitions go beyond numbers they’re about alignment of purpose, culture, and people. I’ve seen technically sound deals fail because leadership underestimated the human factor. The key is integration creating a shared vision early on and respecting both sides’ strengths. It’s crucial to maintain transparent communication, empower teams during transitions, and ensure the cultural DNA remains intact. Financial synergies matter, but cultural and strategic synergy drives long-term success. When people feel part of something bigger, they become champions of the new organization rather than bystanders.”
Making Impact Last
The Worlds Times: You’ve often spoken about “making things happen and making them last.” What’s your formula for lasting impact?
Michael Nielsen replied, “Lasting impact comes from combining vision with discipline. Many ideas fail not because they lack creativity, but because they lack structure and persistence. My formula is: clarity + commitment + compassion. Clarity provides direction, commitment ensures consistency, and compassion sustains motivation. When leaders align these three, they create momentum that endures. Whether in business development, team building, or M&A, I always focus on establishing foundations that will remain strong even when I’m no longer directly involved. Sustainability of people, purpose, and performance is what defines true success.”
Advice for Future Leaders
Lastly we asked, “Finally, what advice would you give to emerging leaders who aspire to balance business excellence with empathy?”
“Start by defining what kind of leader you want to be not just what results you want to achieve. Success without empathy is hollow and short-lived. Build self-awareness, listen actively, and make decisions that uplift others as well as the business. Don’t be afraid to show vulnerability; authenticity inspires more loyalty than perfection ever will. Surround yourself with people who challenge and complement you. And remember, leadership isn’t about being in charge it’s about taking care of those in your charge. In the long run, empathy doesn’t slow you down it makes success sustainable.” Michael Nielsen concluded
