Introduction to Salim Khan
We started the interview by asking, “Who is Salim Khan? Tell us something about you?”
Salim Khan replied, “My name is Salim Khan, I was born in a small town Sawant wadi which is in Maharashtra India and bought up in Mumbai.
Just Like everyone I also came to this land of opportunity in 2001 to pursue my dreams, I started working as operation executive in one of the logistics company in Jebel Ali free zone, I always wanted to start my own business and then in the year 2007 I finally started my own company IMEX Shipping & Logistics, After many years of hard work and dedication I can proudly say that our company IMEX Shipping & Logistics is well known in Dubai market, Alhamdulillah.”

Decoding IMEX
The Worlds Times: What does IMEX mean and how did you decide to keep the name IMEX? IMEX specialised in?
Salim Khan replied, “When I decided to start a logistics business in 2007, I wanted something simple and easily relevant to our sector, so I chose the name IMEX, which is taken from the first two letters of IMPORT and EXPORT.
The name itself transports you into the world of freight and logistics, defining the company’s in-depth knowledge and expertise in all key aspects of international shipping and logistics services, door-to-door transportation by ROAD, SEA, and AIR, ranging from the smallest parcel of freight to massive consignments of infinite size and dimensions. We also do console business; we get import consoles from India, China, Europe, and the United States.
This August, Alhamdulillah, IMEX will celebrate 17 years in business, and we look forward to many more successful years, InShallah.”

Salim Khan replied, “IMEX USP – We try to meet and exceed customers’ demands by delivering what we promise.
Teamwork is becoming more and more important to the success of any business, and it is one of our company’s mantras for business success.”
We further asked, “How do you choose the employee for your company and what is your relation with your employee?”
Salim Khan answered, “When it comes to hiring new employee defiantly experience matters but we also believe in giving a chance to freshers. As our tagline says, “SHAPING THE GROWING FUTURE,” we strongly believe in it.
Our employee is like our extended family and we have very friendly work environment.”
Charting the Course Ahead
The Worlds Times: Can we know your future plan for your business?
Salim Khan replied, “Our future plans involve expanding our presence in the Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain. Given that we currently have an office in Mumbai-India, we have also made the decision to establish branches in Pune and Indore this year. Additionally, we are looking at setting up offices in Delhi and Chennai within the following year.”

Salim Khan replied, “We try to work as honestly as we can while following to our excellence and the vision of our rulers, because even during the Pandemic, we all witnessed how Dubai stood tall while the rest of the globe struggled.”
Salim Khan’s Expert Advice
The Worlds Times: What is your advice for new investors?
Salim Khan replied, “UAE is one of the safest and most peaceful countries, here, we can experience universal brotherhood; I consider myself blessed to live in this country.
Security and safety are remarkable, and Dubai is a land of opportunity, therefore my advice is to close your eyes and invest in Dubai, provided you are a hard worker and serious towards your goal. Secondly, UAE provides a fantastic platform for investors; we just have to follow the rules and regulations.”

The Worlds Times: Behind your success I am sure there are many people who support you; can we know who those people are?
Salim Khan replied, “My Mother has always been my biggest support and all because of her blessings what I am today. I’d also like to thank my wife, who works as an HR & Admin manager and does a great job of balancing work and home life while taking care of my children, and last but not the least Mr Jose John, my friend and business partner.”

Salim Khan replied, “We are lucky to have good leadership. Not only do local people benefit, but communities like ours are also given a chance to grow, and we always say thank you to everyone in the government who helps us grow.
I’d like to take this chance to thank His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid from the bottom of my heart for making it possible, encouraging, promoting, and setting up the right conditions for us to succeed.
As a resident of the United Arab Emirates, I am very thankful, both for myself and on behalf of our team, IMEX Shipping & Logistics. I wish I could meet His Highness Shaikh Mohammed someday. He is a true inspiration for many, and I am very impressed and inspired by him. I wish all world leaders could be like him.”
