Let’s Start the Interview:
The Worlds Times: Explain the background of you and the Company in detail
Xabier Durruti: Xabier Durruti is a Technical Specialist in Cyber Intelligence and Computer Forensics. Born in the Basque Country, he is the director of Privacy.eus. He is a defender of privacy and that is why he created Privacy.eus, to serve those people, companies or institutions that wish to protect their privacy. As a Technical Specialist in Cyber Intelligence, Xabier also offers OSINT investigation services for companies or individuals; he also creates security audits to prevent the theft of personal or classified information.
The Worlds Times: What are your goals?
Xabier Durruti: Privacy.eus has two goals. On the one hand, promote and help protect the privacy of people, companies or institutions in the technological field.
On the other hand, research for people, companies or institutions in information analysis.
The Worlds Times: What do you feel is the biggest strength of yourself/ company right now?
Xabier Durruti: The protection of privacy, without any doubt, is today the most important thing. For this reason, Privacy.eus offers its services to all those who need it, to protect themselves and also their privacy in any field, from personal to professional.
The Worlds Times: What was the path you/your company took to get to where you are today?
Xabier Durruti: First, understand to what extent we can endanger our data, our privacy in any area, that is, physically and technologically. Privacy and our data can not only be in danger using today’s technology, it is physically possible, for example, our data stored in a closet of any institution. It is true that the trend is to digitize everything, but there are still classified data written on paper. The OSINT research work carried out by Privacy.eus is oriented towards the digital world, but it is also necessary in a physical way.
The Worlds Times: Why did you start (or want to be the head of) this company?
Xabier Durruti: To protect the data and privacy of those who need it and guide them properly. Many companies and people who know a lot about computers take advantage of the ignorance of many people to get that information.
The Worlds Times: What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Xabier Durruti: Oddly enough, there are currently many interests. In educational centers where a certain system is used to work, many of the students and parents are unaware of what information they are giving to this service. On some occasion Privacy.eus gave a total of three talks to parents so that they were aware of this. After these three talks, the educational center decided not to give more.
In other centers and places, they don’t see privacy protection as an “issue.” Workers and students use mobile phones and computers every day, but nobody teaches them to protect themselves, to avoid being spied on. That is one of the biggest challenges of Privacy, being able to reach as many people as possible to provide the greatest protection.
The Worlds Times: Give us one word that describes you the best.
Xabier Durruti: Protective
The Worlds Times: What makes you excited about Mondays?
Xabier Durruti: Mondays always give a fresh start to new projects during the week
The Worlds Times: What do you value most about your culture and vision?
Xabier Durruti: I always value looking beyond, wanting to learn to better understand things and be better and better at what you like best and understand people better.
The Worlds Times: Tell us about a project that forced you to be innovative and creative.
Xabier Durruti: Before creating Privacy.eus, a group from a university contacted me to create a project. The objective was to create a database of stores and establishments where personal data would be added. The problem was that this data would be without protection, that is, within the reach of anyone. Also, not even notifying the owners of how that data would be used. As soon as I saw this, I decided to withdraw from said project in addition to announcing my total disagreement. It was at that moment that I started planning Privacy.eus.
The Worlds Times: What are the strategies of your company and how do they stand unique from your competitors?
Xabier Durruti: On the one hand, Privacy.eus is completely independent. The client’s privacy is paramount, protecting their privacy with a confidentiality agreement. The research work is absolutely respectful of privacy, it will only investigate or do what the client requests, in addition to being a very individual job, where only the client and Privacy.eus are present. Privacy.eus is an example of how to work with any client who wants to protect their privacy, above all professionalism.
The Worlds Times: What are the key values which helped you to overcome the roadblocks/challenges in your career? Tell us something about your memorable incident in your leadership?
Xabier Durruti: The values followed at Privacy.eus are few, but very valuable: privacy, dedication, a fighter, not giving up, principles, professionalism and respect. These values make it possible for Privacy.eus not to abandon any project.
The Worlds Times: How do you see the company changing in two years, and how do you see yourself creating that change?
Xabier Durruti: Privacy.eus will continue to be a project with a solid foundation and strong principles to protect privacy. In the future I hope to reach more places outside the Basque Country and get more followers to support Privacy.eus in order to protect our privacy and help those who need it most.
