To supplementary concerns asked by members from Tamil Nadu in English, Jyotiraditya Scindia responded in Hindi.
Previous event associates Jyotiraditya Scindia, as well as Shashi Tharoor, found themselves on contrary sides of the ‘Hindi fence’ today. The Aeronautics Preacher reacted in Hindi to an inquiry asked in English which the Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram described as “a disrespect”.
While responding to supplementary inquiries asked by members from Tamil Nadu in English, the Union Preacher responded in Hindi.
Not long after, Shashi Tharoor commented that it was an “apman (disrespect)” that the minister was responding in Hindi.
“The minister speaks English. Let him reply in English,” Tharoor said.
“Zara jawab Hindi mein floor covering dijiye … ye apman hai logon ka (Please don’t offer replies in Hindi … it is a disrespect to people),” Mr Tharoor stated.
A noticeably peeved Jyotiraditya Scindia stated it was weird for the participant to make such a remark.
“Maine Hindi bola to eitraaz ho raha hai (If I speak in Hindi, (the participant) has any objection,” he said, adding that there was additionally a translator in the House.
