Actor Chrisann Pereira, detained in the United Arab Emirates on fees of medication ownership and also lodged at a jail in Sharjah, has been released by law enforcement authorities there, an elderly Mumbai Police official said on Thursday.
Two men had allegedly ripped off the 27-year-old actor, that is from Mumbai, by planting medications on her and also sending her to Sharjah under the pretense of an ‘tryout’ while assuring her a role in a Hollywood web collection.
Pereira, that acted in Mahesh Bhatt routed Bollywood motion picture Sadak 2, was captured at the Sharjah airport terminal on April 1 after a little quantity of a medication was found hidden in a token which one of the implicated had given to her to hand it over to somebody in the UAE.
After her apprehension, the implicated– Ravi Bobhate and Anthony Paul– allegedly required Rs 80 lakh from her mom to rescue her, the official said.
The actor’s mommy then came close to the Mumbai Cops who arrested the duo and scheduled them for cheating.
The Mumbai Police had sent out the case-related papers to the authorities concerned who experienced the situation information following which Chrisann Pereira was released on Wednesday evening, he claimed.
An official communication with the Ministry of External Affairs was underway in this connection, he said.
Pereira is likely to go back to Mumbai in a day or more, the official said.
